MAREUREU - album launch by npme

The drums will beat loudly across the city when npme (new pacific music ensemble) launches its debut album Mareureu, at the Classic Comedy Theatre in November.

The group’s blend of improv jazz and Cook Island log drumming is the brainchild of composer Andrew McMillan. Audiences throughout Aotearoa have readily taken to the new genre, as witnessed at the National Jazz Festival earlier this year in Tauranga. Even the blue rinse brigade eventually relaxed to the group’s dynamic performance and McMillan’s compositions. The ensemble have also been invited to perform at the closing concert of the upcoming Wellington International Jazz Festival on November 11.
